Dog Leash Shelf

I wanted somewhere to hang the dogs’ leashes that wasn’t just a random hook by the door, so I built a small collage shelf instead — leash hooks, a spot for treats, and room for a wall’s worth of dog photos, because apparently a hook by itself wasn’t personal enough.

The build is simple: a walnut frame and shelf around a plywood backer panel, glued together with butt joints and just enough dowel pins to keep it from ever needing a hidden screw. I actually like how the dowels look against the dark stained walnut — flush-cut, they read as a small intentional accent instead of hardware trying to disappear.

I measured slightly wrong somewhere along the way and ended up with a mild bow across the top of the frame that I didn’t notice until it was already glued up. It’s subtle enough you’d have to be looking for it, but it’s there. The teacup hooks underneath work fine for leashes, though in hindsight I’d have gone with something bigger — my dogs are large, and large dogs come with large leashes. I know this. I’m just too lazy to swap the hooks now.

It gives the dogs a little dedicated corner of the house, which was really the whole point.
